WCAG – Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

Have you ever wondered what WCAG means? WCAG stands for “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines”, i.e. guidelines for accessible web content. These guidelines help web developers to design content in such a way that it can be used by everyone – regardless of physical or mental limitations.

What do the WCAG contain? The WCAG are divided into three accessibility levels: A, AA and AAA. Each level has specific requirements:

  • A (lowest level): Basic accessibility. This level should be achieved as a minimum.
  • AA (intermediate level): This level is usually aimed for as it offers a good balance between accessibility and practicability.
  • AAA (highest level): It offers the best accessibility, but is not always fully convertible.

These guidelines cover everything from the readability of text to the usability of forms and navigation elements to ensure that everyone can use the web content without any problems.

Remember, all of us may need this help at some point. By complying with WCAG, we make the internet a more accessible place for everyone.
